Full-time | Competitive Salary | Permanent

We’re supporting a long-established engineering and manufacturing business in West Sussex as they look to appoint a Stock Controller to strengthen their operations and drive improvements across stock control and ERP processes. This is a hands-on, analytical role at the centre of a growing production environment working closely with finance, procurement, and production to ensure accuracy, visibility, and control across all materials and components. The company is currently transitioning to a more advanced load-based stock control model driven by BOMs and MRP data, so this position will suit someone who enjoys using data to improve systems, streamline processes, and make a tangible impact across a business.

The Opportunity

You’ll take ownership of stock management processes, data accuracy, and reporting — helping to ensure materials are available where and when they’re needed. It’s a role that blends system control with practical understanding, offering genuine variety day to day. You’ll be working as part of a supportive team where ideas are valued, and you’ll have the scope to help shape how stock is controlled and reported as the company continues to evolve its systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain stock accuracy and traceability across all areas of production.
  • Administer and update data within the ERP system, including stock adjustments, new part setups, and system parameters.
  • Create and refine stock and production reports to support decision-making.
  • Track production-critical parts and resolve discrepancies before they impact workflow.
  • Support perpetual inventory checks and annual stock takes.
  • Ensure high-value components are correctly allocated and costed.
  • Collaborate with procurement and production to optimise stock levels and reduce WIP.
  • Support the management of the stores function and assist with wider operational improvement projects.

About You

  • Experienced in stock control, inventory, or materials management within a manufacturing or engineering setting.
  • Confident using ERP / MRP systems (Epicor, SAP, or similar).
  • Strong IT and reporting skills with a keen eye for detail.
  • Analytical, methodical, and proactive in identifying improvements.
  • Team player with a positive attitude and flexible approach.
  • Comfortable communicating across departments and building relationships at all levels.
  • Management or supervisory experience would be a bonus, but not essential.

Why This Role

This is a genuine opportunity to make an operational impact. Bringing structure, accuracy, and efficiency to an evolving engineering environment. You’ll have the space to improve processes, the support of a strong leadership team, and the satisfaction of seeing your work directly improve how the business runs day to day.
